Central deputation for two senior IPS officers

Patna: The state govt has relieved two senior IPS officers within two days to take up new responsibilities in Delhi. As per a home department notification, the IG- and DIG-level officers have been posted to key positions in central govt departments. Earlier, 2010-batch IPS officer Deepak Barnwal was also cleared for central deputation and posted as deputy inspector general (DIG) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).Senior IPS officer Rakesh Rathi was relieved on April 29 for central deputation, followed by Naveen Chandra Jha on April 30.A 2002-batch IPS officer, Rathi was serving as inspector general in Bihar Police’s special branch. The Centre has appointed him as joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs for five years from the date of joining or until further orders.Just a day after Rathi’s relief, 2009-batch IPS officer Naveen Chandra Jha was also relieved on April 30. Jha was serving as deputy inspector general in the Bihar Vigilance Bureau. He will now take up his new assignment as DIG in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The govt has relieved him with immediate effect.With these latest notifications, attention has now turned to who will be assigned these crucial posts in Bihar to ensure continuity in intelligence, vigilance and administrative functions.
